Francis Marion Hotel Stairwell Repairs – Completed August 2024

The Francis Marion Hotel was built in the 1920s. Due to changes during the original construction of the building, a staircase was cantilevered outside of the main building structure on the 12th floor. The concrete at the bottom of the staircase was corroded, and the steel lintels holding up the brick were completely rusted. After an engineer determined the staircase was unsafe for use, WxTite erected structural shoring from the ground up to the staircase on the 12th floor to allow the building to remain open during repairs. WxTite installed helical bars to support the brick, replaced the lintels, and repaired the concrete underneath the stairwell.
