About
This precast clad building had been leaking since it was built in 2012. The brick areas are precast panels as well. The original design called for a double sealant joint at all joints but was VE’d out.
WxTite was hired through a design build approach with Guilford County where we hired SKA Consulting Engineers to water test and develop plans to stop all water intrusion.
There were many sources of water intrusion. i.e. sealants, canopy embeds, louvers, open air prisoner yards, etc. We ended up removing the canopies and embeds (Precast patching repairs), performing a full sealant replacement with new inner and outer sealants at all precast joints, installing new metal wall panels to cover up part of the open-air prison screens which exposed leaking interior columns, and sealing voids in the louvers, totaling over 13 miles of sealant.
There were many other repairs completed as well, ultimately resulting in a leak free building.
